Entangled

Throughout my entire life, I have always had very long hair.
Despite wanting to cut it, the number of negative comments I would receive when suggesting it made me nervous. Although I decided to cut my hair, I was inspired to create an abstract painting about how I previously felt entangled in society's toxic beauty standards. I wanted to emphasize the roughness of society through texture but also highlight the smooth, yet never ending hair.
